History was made this week in Cape York when traditional land & sea was handed back to the traditional owners... the Kuuku Ya'u people or salt water people of Eastern Cape York.
It was such an honour to witness such a historical event.
The land claim is not only one of the largest claims in Australian history but for the first time involved the handing back of ocean to ensure cultural preservation.
The day was huge... it involved a full court sitting, loads of government officials, Ministers, Anthropologists, most of the local community, and a lot of journalists!
Congratulations Cape York Land Council & the Kuuku Ya'u people on this amazing, long awaited outcome!
May you forever be at one with your homeland... x
