Sunshine Sundays...

Lovely Sundays...
Today we were planning on heading to the beach, however it was just too hot! Instead I pottered around our little cottage, working on the gardens, listening to bird calls, and taking some photos while Caleb babysat his rather large crocodile which will be put on the barge and sent to Cairns tomorrow.

I did a spot of baking this morning, making some yummy organic wholemeal scones for brunch...

Then we headed out to our little cottage at the ranger base once the morning sun calmed down...

Here are a few little inspirations I captured in our garden...

A native Cape York Lilly...

Some native figs on a huge fig tree...

Some tiny pink berries that are just so pretty!

After gardening, a spot of bush walking and playing with our little dogs in the summer sun, we were ready to come home and take refuge in the cool. I took the advantage of picking some lemons off our big lemon tree at the cottage, and when we got home I made some refreshing homemade lemonade.

It's really easy and very very yummy!
Boil 3/4 of a cup of sugar with 1 cup of water.
Squeeze 1 cup of lemon juice mix it in a pitcher with the sugar water. Add 4 more cups of cold water and a few ice cubes... and there you have it... a fail proof homemade lemonade! Very refreshing after a morning in the sun!

I hope everyone is having a lovely relaxing Sunday.
Tomorrow is a public holiday here, it's called Foundation Day and marks the day that the local people were forcibly moved from the old mission to the current Lockhart River community.
There is a day of community activities, so needless to say I will be working, however I hope to get a few new photos of some iconic community members as I have been asked to contribute some portraits for Amnesty International's latest publication... very exciting!

For now, happy Sunday...
Much love & light xox
